About
Dirty Cat Studio is a multimedia production startup founded by Kevin Jatney (A Dirty Cat) in Melbourne, Australia 2025, producing music, video and merchandise design.
He initially set up the company to produce and distribute his artwork and music independently, which pre-dominantly toyed with alternative, satirical and edgy concepts to express social observations in modern cities.
As time moved forward, the company started to branch out in other avenues. Jatney comes from a construction documentation profession, utilizing a multitude of cameras from DSLR, webcams, LiDar and even drones to capture space. Soon, he started catching interest in various contractual work regarding videography and commercial marketing. Due to his natural curiosity with technology and educational degree in design, he was able to meet these new sets of demands and cater to service.
In this first year alone, the studio has already worked on 4 large build projects working with developers and builders to capture important information for office training as well as aiding in the production of marketing videos for real estate. Check out samples here.
The Name
Finding a good business name has always posed a big problem for anyone starting a small business. Especially currently, where claiming alias and names on social media continues to become increasingly difficult due to name claiming bots.
However, one day Theo (Jatney’s Adopted Burmese) who had been outside playing, jumped onto the keyboard, all dirty, and stared directly into his eyes. A few quiet moments of staring pass and it struck him, immediately searching on all the social platforms, web domain providers and more… it was still unclaimed. At that very moment, it seemed that the universe was pointing Jatney into one direction… Dirty Cat Studio.
